Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 17, 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how TryGetBill ("we", "our", "us") uses cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, and similar browser technologies (collectively, "Cookies") when you visit or use our platform at trygetbill.com.

This policy should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

2. What Are Cookies & Browser Storage

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, improve efficiency, and provide reporting information.

localStorage and sessionStorage are browser mechanisms that allow websites to store key-value data on your device. localStorage persists until explicitly cleared; sessionStorage is cleared when the browser tab is closed.

3. Cookies & Storage Used by TryGetBill

The following is an exhaustive list of cookies and browser storage keys used by TryGetBill:

3.1 Essential (always on, cannot be disabled)

These are strictly necessary for the platform to function. Without them, core features will not work. No consent is required for essential cookies under Indian law.

Key / Cookie Type Purpose Expiry
trygetbill-cookie-consent localStorage Stores your cookie consent preference ("all" or "essential") Persistent
trygetbill-theme localStorage Stores your dark/light theme preference Persistent
tgb_dashboard_sidebar_collapsed localStorage Remembers sidebar open/closed state Persistent

3.2 Analytics (only after you opt in)

These cookies are loaded only after you explicitly consent via the cookie banner by choosing "Accept All". If you choose "Essential Only", these cookies are never loaded.

Cookie Provider Purpose Expiry
_ga Google Analytics Distinguishes unique users for analytics 2 years
_ga_* Google Analytics (GA4) Maintains session state for GA4 2 years
_gid Google Analytics Distinguishes users for 24-hour analytics 24 hours

3.3 Security (Always Active)

Cookie Provider Purpose Expiry
reCAPTCHA cookies Google reCAPTCHA v3 Bot detection and abuse prevention via Firebase App Check 6 months

4. How Consent Works

4.1 On your first visit to TryGetBill, a cookie consent banner is displayed offering two choices:

  • "Accept All": Enables essential cookies + analytics cookies (Google Analytics). Also enables persistent Firebase Authentication sessions and theme storage.
  • "Essential Only": Enables only essential cookies required for the platform to function. Google Analytics cookies are NOT loaded. Firebase Authentication uses session-only persistence (cleared when browser closes).

4.2 Your consent preference is stored in localStorage under the key trygetbill-cookie-consent and respected on all subsequent visits.

4.3 You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for trygetbill.com, which will trigger the consent banner to appear again on your next visit.

5. Third-Party Cookies

The following third-party services may place cookies on your device through TryGetBill:

  • Google Analytics (GA4): Anonymized usage statistics to help us improve the product. Only loaded with consent. Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
  • Firebase Authentication: Secure sign-in and session management. Essential for platform operation. Privacy Policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
  • Google reCAPTCHA v3: Bot detection and abuse prevention via Firebase App Check. Essential for platform security. Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy

TryGetBill does not control the cookies set by these third-party services. Please review their respective privacy policies for information on how they handle data collected through cookies.

6. Managing & Deleting Cookies

You can manage or delete cookies through:

  • Cookie consent banner: Shown on first visit. Choose "Essential Only" to decline analytics cookies.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to block, delete, or manage cookies. Refer to your browser's help documentation for instructions.
  • Browser developer tools: You can manually clear localStorage, sessionStorage, and cookies for trygetbill.com via your browser's developer console.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent Google Analytics data collection across all websites.

Important: Disabling essential cookies or clearing Firebase Authentication storage will log you out and may prevent the platform from functioning correctly. Disabling analytics cookies does not affect any core platform functionality.

7. Do Not Track

TryGetBill does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" (DNT) browser signals. You can control tracking by managing your cookie preferences via the consent banner.

8. Legal Basis

Essential cookies are used based on our legitimate interest in providing a functional and secure platform. Analytics cookies are used only with your explicit opt-in consent, consistent with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and applicable Indian regulations.

9. Changes to This Policy

TryGetBill may update this Cookie Policy at any time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. If we introduce new categories of cookies that require consent, the cookie consent banner will be shown again.
