TryGetBill PayLock™ Terms

Last updated: April 30, 2026

These terms apply specifically to the TryGetBill PayLock™ free file-lock tool available at trygetbill.com/tools/file-lock and to its in-app counterpart available to signed-in TryGetBill users. They supplement, and where applicable supersede on tool-specific matters, the main TryGetBill Terms of Service.

1. What TryGetBill PayLock™ Is

1.1 TryGetBill PayLock™ ("PayLock") is a tool that allows freelancers and small businesses to upload a file, set a payment expectation, share a unique unlock URL with their client, and release the file to that client only after the freelancer has confirmed receipt of payment. It is a software tool that helps coordinate file delivery against payment confirmation.

1.2 TryGetBill PayLock is offered in two forms: (a) a free, anonymous standalone tool at trygetbill.com/tools/file-lock with usage limits described below, and (b) an in-app feature embedded in the invoice creation flow for signed-in users. Free accounts receive 3 files a month at up to 25 MB each; paid plans have higher limits.

1.3 The product name "TryGetBill PayLock™" and the short form "PayLock" as used on this site refer exclusively to the file-lock feature offered by TryGetBill. They are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any third-party product bearing a similar name in any other industry.

2. Acceptance of These Terms

2.1 By uploading a file, generating an unlock URL, sharing an unlock URL, or accessing an unlock URL through TryGetBill PayLock, you agree to these Terms, the main Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Copyright & Takedown Policy, and the Refund Policy.

2.2 Where a conflict arises between these TryGetBill PayLock-specific Terms and the main Terms of Service on a matter directly relating to TryGetBill PayLock, these Terms prevail to the extent of the conflict.

3. Definitions Specific to TryGetBill PayLock

  • Uploader: The freelancer, business, or individual who uploads a file to TryGetBill PayLock and configures payment expectations.
  • Recipient: The client or third party with whom the Uploader shares the unlock URL.
  • Session: A unique TryGetBill PayLock instance created by an Uploader, identified by a randomly generated session ID.
  • Unlock URL: The URL of the form trygetbill.com/unlock/[sessionId] that the Uploader shares with the Recipient to claim payment and (after release) download the file.
  • Payment Method: Either an HTTPS payment link (Razorpay, Stripe, PayPal.me, or any HTTPS URL) or a UPI ID, supplied by the Uploader.
  • Storage Provider: Cloudflare R2, the third-party object storage service used to host TryGetBill PayLock files.

4. Usage Limits

  • Free standalone tool: One file per email address per calendar month. Maximum file size: 25 MB. Maximum 3 sessions per IP address per hour and 5 sessions per IP per day.
  • In-app feature (inside invoices): Available to every signed-in TryGetBill user. Free account: 3 files per calendar month, up to 25 MB each. Standard plan: 20 files per month, up to 100 MB each. Pro/Business plan: 100 files per month, up to 200 MB each.
  • Extra space: Signed-in users may buy 5 extra files up to 100 MB each for ₹99, or large-file space at ₹149 per GB, up to 5 GB per file. Payment is taken before upload. Purchased space is valid for 30 days and is non-refundable. It does not change the invoice plan.
  • Email verification: The free standalone tool requires verification of the Uploader's email address before the Unlock URL becomes shareable.

We may change these limits without prior notice. We may also enforce limits more strictly in response to abuse.

5. Automatic Deletion of Files

YOU MUST READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS SECTION BEFORE UPLOADING ANY FILE.

  • Unpaid sessions: Files in sessions that have not been marked as paid by the Uploader are automatically and permanently deleted from our Storage Provider after 7 calendar days from the session creation date.
  • Paid sessions: Files in sessions that have been marked as paid by the Uploader are automatically and permanently deleted after 14 calendar days from the date of payment marking.
  • Owner-deleted sessions: Files deleted by the Uploader through the TryGetBill PayLock Manage interface are removed immediately and irreversibly.
  • Reported sessions: Files in sessions that are auto-suspended due to abuse reports may be deleted earlier as described in Section 12.

Once deleted, files cannot be recovered. TryGetBill is not a long-term file storage service and you should not use TryGetBill PayLock as a backup, archive, or content distribution service. The Uploader and Recipient are solely responsible for retaining their own copies of files outside of TryGetBill PayLock.

6. File Content Responsibility

6.1 You, as the Uploader, are solely and fully responsible for the content of any file you upload to TryGetBill PayLock. By uploading a file, you represent and warrant that:

  • The file is your original work, or you hold all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to upload, store, and share it
  • The file does not infringe the copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy, publicity, or other rights of any third party
  • The file does not contain malware, viruses, trojans, ransomware, worms, keyloggers, or any other malicious code
  • The file does not contain content that is unlawful under Indian law, including but not limited to: child sexual abuse material; content promoting terrorism or violence; content violating the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986; content violating the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013; defamatory content; obscene content under Section 67 of the IT Act, 2000; or content that violates the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002
  • The file does not contain biometric data, financial credentials, government identity documents of third parties, or sensitive personal data of others without their explicit consent
  • The file does not contain trade secrets, confidential information, or material covered by a non-disclosure obligation that would be breached by your sharing it through TryGetBill PayLock

6.2 TryGetBill does not pre-screen, scan, or actively monitor the content of uploaded files. We rely on size limits, file extension blocklists, abuse reports, and automated rate limits to mitigate misuse. Acting on a report or notice does not impose on TryGetBill an obligation to monitor uploaded content generally.

7. Prohibited File Types and Content

The following file extensions are blocked at upload time to reduce the risk of malware distribution: .exe, .bat, .cmd, .scr, .msi, .dll, .app, .dmg, .pkg, .deb, .rpm, .jar, .vbs, .ps1, .com, .cpl, .gadget, .inf, .lnk, .reg. This blocklist may be updated without notice.

In addition to extension restrictions, the following content categories are absolutely prohibited regardless of file extension:

  • Pirated software, films, music, books, courses, or other commercial content used without authorization
  • Content depicting minors in sexualized contexts
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery
  • Stolen credentials, leaked databases, or hacking tools targeting third parties
  • Content used in connection with fraud, phishing, or social engineering attacks
  • Content classified as obscene under Section 67 / 67A / 67B of the IT Act, 2000
  • Content that incites violence or terrorism
  • Files containing personal data of identifiable third parties without lawful basis under the DPDP Act, 2023

Violation of this section is a material breach of these Terms and may result in immediate session termination, file deletion, account suspension or termination (where applicable), reporting to law enforcement, and personal civil and criminal liability for you under applicable Indian law.

8. Manual Payment Flow and Disclaimer

8.1 TryGetBill PayLock allows the Uploader to specify either an HTTPS payment link or a UPI ID. It displays this information to the Recipient on the Unlock URL, including, where the Uploader provided a UPI ID, by generating a UPI deep link of the form upi://pay?... and a corresponding QR code as a convenience.

8.2 TryGetBill does not process, hold, route, settle, or have any custody over funds that flow between the Recipient and the Uploader. The actual payment occurs entirely between the Recipient's payer account and the Uploader's receiver account through their own banking, UPI, or payment provider channels. TryGetBill is not a party to that payment.

8.3 TryGetBill does not act as, and is not, a Payment Aggregator, Payment Gateway, Payment System Operator, or any other payment intermediary under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, the RBI Guidelines on Regulation of Payment Aggregators and Payment Gateways, 2020 (as amended), or any other applicable payment regulation. The display of a payment link or UPI deep link is a convenience feature only.

8.4 The act of marking a session as "paid" in TryGetBill PayLock is performed manually by the Uploader, on the Uploader's sole determination that the corresponding payment has been received in their own account. TryGetBill does not verify, confirm, or guarantee any actual payment.

8.5 TryGetBill bears no liability for: (a) failed, fraudulent, reversed, or disputed payments between Uploader and Recipient; (b) the Uploader's erroneous or fraudulent marking of a session as paid; (c) chargebacks or refunds initiated outside TryGetBill PayLock; (d) tax obligations arising from any payment between Uploader and Recipient; or (e) the legal validity of any underlying transaction between Uploader and Recipient.

9. Anonymous Use of the Free Tool

9.1 The free standalone TryGetBill PayLock tool does not require account creation. Use is permitted on the basis of an email address you provide and verify, plus IP address, browser fingerprint, and basic device information that we record for security and abuse prevention.

9.2 Anonymous use does not anonymize your conduct from a legal perspective. We log IP addresses, user-agent strings, timestamps, and metadata of all sessions, and these logs are made available to law enforcement and judicial authorities upon lawful request without prior notice to you, where required by law.

9.3 The Recipient (the person who receives the Unlock URL) accesses the unlock page anonymously. Their IP address, user-agent, and basic device information are also logged for security, fraud prevention, and rate limiting.

10. Email Verification

For the free standalone tool, the Unlock URL becomes shareable only after the Uploader verifies their email address by clicking the verification link sent to that address. This is a security and anti-spam measure. Verification tokens are time-limited and signed.

11. Storage Location and Cross-Border Data Transfer

11.1 Files uploaded to TryGetBill PayLock are stored on Cloudflare R2, an object storage service operated by Cloudflare, Inc. or its affiliates. Data may be processed and stored in Cloudflare regions including the Asia-Pacific region and globally.

11.2 By uploading a file to TryGetBill PayLock, you consent to the transfer and storage of that file outside India where applicable, in compliance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, including any restrictions notified by the Central Government under Section 16 of the Act.

11.3 Files are accessed via short-lived presigned URLs (typically 10 minutes for upload and 15 minutes for download). The Storage Provider does not have meaningful access to file contents beyond what is necessary to serve our presigned URL requests, and is contractually obligated to maintain confidentiality and security under its standard terms of service applicable to TryGetBill's account.

12. Abuse Reports and Auto-Suspension

12.1 Any person, whether a Recipient, Uploader, rightsholder, or third party, may report a TryGetBill PayLock session as abusive by using the report mechanism on the unlock page or by emailing grievance@trygetbill.com.

12.2 If a session is reported by 5 or more unique IP addresses within a 24-hour period, that session is automatically suspended. A suspended session displays a notice to anyone who attempts to access the unlock URL, and the file is no longer downloadable. The session may be reviewed manually and either restored, permanently terminated, or escalated to law enforcement.

12.3 Where a session is terminated for abuse, the file is deleted from our Storage Provider, and the relevant metadata is retained for records and law enforcement purposes for a period necessary under applicable law.

12.4 Knowingly false or malicious abuse reports are themselves a violation of our Acceptable Use Policy. Persons making such reports may be denylisted from the platform and may face legal action.

13. License Granted to TryGetBill

By uploading a file to TryGetBill PayLock, you grant TryGetBill a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to store, transmit, cache, display, and otherwise process the file solely as necessary to provide the TryGetBill PayLock service to you and to the Recipient you designate. This license terminates automatically when the file is deleted from our Storage Provider, whether by automatic deletion, owner-initiated deletion, or termination for abuse.

We do not claim ownership of files uploaded to TryGetBill PayLock, and we do not use file contents for any purpose other than providing the TryGetBill PayLock service.

14. Notifications to Uploader by the Recipient

14.1 TryGetBill PayLock provides an "I have paid" notification feature on the unlock page. This is a courtesy mechanism that allows the Recipient to send an email notification to the Uploader stating that they believe they have paid. It is the Uploader's sole responsibility to verify whether payment has actually been received before marking the session as paid.

14.2 To prevent abuse, the "I have paid" notification is rate-limited to a maximum of 3 notifications per session, with a minimum 30-minute cooldown between notifications.

15. No Warranty

TryGetBill PayLock is provided on a strictly "AS-IS" and "AS-AVAILABLE" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law, TryGetBill disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including any warranty that TryGetBill PayLock will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free; that files will not be lost or corrupted; that the unlock URL will function across all devices and networks; or that payments will be received.

16. Limitation of Liability

16.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, TryGetBill's total aggregate liability to the Uploader, the Recipient, or any other person, for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the use of TryGetBill PayLock, shall not exceed the lesser of (a) the amount, if any, you paid TryGetBill in respect of TryGetBill PayLock in the three months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) Indian Rupees 1,000.

16.2 For clarity, the free standalone TryGetBill PayLock tool does not require any payment to TryGetBill, and accordingly the maximum aggregate liability to a free-tier user is capped at Indian Rupees 1,000.

16.3 In no event shall TryGetBill be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, loss of data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, or financial loss arising from any failed, delayed, fraudulent, or disputed payment between the Uploader and the Recipient.

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless TryGetBill, its operator, employees, agents, contractors, and Storage Provider from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from or related to: (a) any file you upload to TryGetBill PayLock; (b) any breach by you of these Terms or applicable law; (c) any infringement by your file of third-party rights; (d) any dispute between Uploader and Recipient regarding payment, file content, or service delivery; and (e) any tax, regulatory, or other obligation arising from any underlying transaction between Uploader and Recipient.

18. Termination

18.1 TryGetBill may suspend or terminate access to TryGetBill PayLock, in whole or in part, with or without notice, for any reason including but not limited to: violation of these Terms, suspected abuse, legal or regulatory requirement, or operational reasons.

18.2 Sections 6, 7, 8, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 survive termination of these Terms.

19. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the use of TryGetBill PayLock shall be subject to the dispute resolution mechanism (negotiation followed by arbitration seated at Badvel, YSR Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh) set out in the main Terms of Service. Subject to that mechanism, the courts at Badvel, YSR Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh, India have exclusive jurisdiction.

20. Changes to These Terms

TryGetBill may update these TryGetBill PayLock Terms from time to time. The current version is the version published at trygetbill.com/tools/file-lock/terms. Material changes will be communicated through prominent notice on the TryGetBill PayLock pages or by email to verified Uploaders where appropriate.
